Hello Old Friends. It's been a long time since this website has been fully functional. I took all of the links down so that I could develop the site's new looks and features. Not to mention that I had a stalker which delayed this launch, but it's a new day for this project.
WHAT'S NEW? Everything, the look, the sound, the direction. I've found all sorts of wonderful resources to make my project and met a lot of wonderful friends along the way.
Just a little history about Help Make My Film: Started in 2003, I began the site after funding fell through to make this film happen. Promises were made by prospective investors that never were fulfilled. So I took what I knew about fundraising for charirty events and applied the same principles to raising money and resources needed to make this film. The film is a project that has gone through many rewrites and has gone from a "A Star is Born" type of script to a more reality based picture of a woman lost to the streets finding herself within music. Since a friend of the family was the police chief of a smaller Fort Lauderdale subdivision, he helped me with my research into the seedier side of town. I was even able to ride along with an officer into the Sistrunk area at night and was able to interview a few of the prostitues working the streets there. Fascinating, to say the least, and it allowed me to get a dose of reality in this tough area of such a beautiful city. The script was even submitted to the Sundance Film Institute and got as far as the final round of judging. So I've taken as many avenues as I could to get make this film the traditional way.
So when I started this website, I began with the rewritten script which finds Jasmine as a crack-addicted street prostitute and the idea that I would try to shoot the film on Super 16mm. Since then, technology has advanced so quickly that when I bought the equpiment to shoot the film on digital, a friend discovered a High Definition camera that was reasonably priced and bought it. So now we're really moving forward with making this film the way it should be made, high quality/low cost.
So it's nearly the end of 2006 and so far I've written some of the music to be performed in the film with my partner Giorgio Ardizzola. He's the guitarist and an amazing songwriter. We have Protools and all of the recording gear that we need, now it's getting the recordings right. He and I put together our Band Angels of Bedam, locally we're playing as Foxy Band (easier name to book under for gigs around here).
So look around the new site and feel free to drop me a line. I have been preoccupied with dealing with a stalker in the last 9 months, so I've kind of cut communication with people because it was just a little too much to handle. But since a judge issued a restraining order against this crazy guy, I finally feel safe getting back to what I was working on. I've even included a special journal called "The Stalker" to let you guys know what's been happening. And it's really what has happened to me. Check it out by clicking on this link The Stalker. There are also other links on each page of this site in case this one isn't working right.
So stick around. There's a lot of things happening and this project is still moving forward. Hopefully it will be shot within the next year if everything goes as planned. But if any of you are familiar with making movies, nothing ever goes as planned. Sometimes, it's even better than you can imagine it would be. So I'm hopeful.
